VMWare Server 2.0I was studying for my RedHat RHCE, and wanted to do some stuff at home, so I downloaded the VMWare Server 2.0 beta. I can't say I was impressed at all with it. The 'neat' thing is that the server console is all now web-based, but, of course, that comes with a price. Tomcat is used as their middleware, and was taking up 3-400 MB on my machine, just to do the management of the box. Talk about overhead. It seems also they're trying to not do too much Ajax stuff, but having some, and it makes the gui frustrating to use. One screen, I left open for 20 minutes, and it never did load data. I added additional disks to a VM, and the GUI for it seems to have frozen, so I clicked the 'close' button on it, and it corrupted the entire VM. So, I'll be staying with 1.x of VMWare Server for now.
